Source Organic Rwanda Gishwati Cloud Forest Coffee 227g

An extremely well-rounded coffee, with lively citrus highlights and a caramel sweetness that lingers on the palate—perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Gishwati Cloud Forest coffee is grown 60km from Virunga Park, a unique ecological hotspot home to a quarter of the world's last mountain gorillas and other endangered species like the zebra-looking okapi. Gishwati used to host a variety of primates such as chimpanzees and golden monkeys, but much of the forest was cleared for subsistence farming. By 2001, only 6km of native Gishwati forest remained.

This coffee rewards 700 organic farmers for their sustainable land management practices. While this is not yet a carbon-registered project, we are collaborating with NGOs to support a payment for ecosystem services initiative. In the meantime, we are offsetting the Rwandan coffee carbon footprint with carbon from our Ugandan farmers.
